In 2015 God pricked the heart of an 8 year old boy. This young boy had been on his second mission trip with his family through Mission of Hope to the country of Haiti. When he returned from this trip Bryson knew God was asking him to do something to help the children he had met, and the many more like them. These children were with minimal to no food (stage 3 starvation), clothing, or education. He began continually asking his parents about raising money to host a food packing event to help Mission of Hope feed kids in Haiti.The first annual Hope for the Hungry event was held in 2019. Bryson had raised enough funds to pack 22,000 meals. He nearly doubled that in 2020 with another 40,000 meals. In 2021, several local churches, businesses, and the greater Destin community came together to pack an astonishing 250,000 meals. The 2022 event packed an additional 324,000 meals! And at the most recent packing event, almost 1,200 people in the 850 community came together to pack 370,000 meals!! That makes 1 MILLION meals in 5 years!!From the heart prick and action taken by one young boy, to the whole greater Destin 850 community coming together! What an impact this is making on children's lives and futures across the globe!!"This event is bringing our community together in such a unique way,” says Bryon's mom , Mhari Turner.
